The Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology (DFEEST) develops and delivers programs and initiatives in partnership with Government, industry bodies and enterprises to address the skilling needs of South Australians workforce to improve productivity of the workforce and equip job seekers with the skills and qualifications that the State needs for the future.

Productivity Places Program (PPP) is part of the Commonwealth Government’s Skilling Australia for the Future initiative. The PPP aims to fund 711,000 additional training places nationally between January 2009 and June 2012 in areas of identified skills shortages for exisitng workers and for job seekers. In SA 17,200 will be allocated to job seekers to assist those looking to work to acquire skills and gain lasting employment in order to become effective participants in the workforce. 38,700 training places will be allocated to assist workers already in the labour force to update or upgrade their current skills.
