Programs for job seekers

The Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology (DFEEST) is responsible for developing, implementing and managing a suite of programs within the State Government’s South Australia Works initiative.

 

South Australia Works partners with employers and industry to deliver responsive, industry led projects which prepare jobseekers for sustainable employment and links people with skills and jobs through a range of learning, training and work programs.

 

Key programs

1800 Employment and Training Line provides an advisory, referral and brokerage service to Aboriginal people seeking training and employment opportunities. These opportunities include pre-employment programs, vocational training, work experience placements, traineeships, apprenticeships and employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors.

Abilities for All provides training and work experience to people with an identified disability to assist with gaining meaningful employment.

Aboriginal Industry Program assists Aboriginal people to gain employment opportunities through school based apprenticeships, traineeships, apprenticeships and in the private sector, through strong links with businesses.

Aboriginal Leadership Register increases the number of Aboriginal South Australians participating in leadership development programs, encourages greater participation on boards and committees and also supports organisations in both the public and private sectors to fill leadership positions.

Aboriginal Public Sector Program assists clients on the Aboriginal Employment Register to gain employment within the public sector. In addition it provides opportunities to participate in career development and enhancement programs.

Adult Community Education (ACE) program provides non-formal learning and the development of foundation skills for those who have difficulty in accessing formal education, training and employment.

South Australia Works - Working Regions helps regional organisations and Networks to identify their regions training and employment needs. The Networks implement projects to address these needs for the individual, the local community and industry. A diverse range of projects are implemented across the State in a variety of industry sectors.
