Information for government agencies

The Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology (DFEEST) can help government agencies undertaking major projects, such as the $812 million South Road Superway and the Adelaide Oval Redevelopment.

DFEEST has experience of working with government proponents, training organisations and contractors to bring about sound workforce and skills planning outcomes for projects.

DFEEST can:

  • advise on the workforce and skills development implications of delivering a project
  • assist the procuring or contracting agency ensure its tender and contract documentation addresses workforce and skills development
  • link contractors to information and employment services for employing apprentices and trainees, Aboriginal jobseekers and local people with barriers to employment
  • advise on up-skilling the contractor’s workforce
  • help plan how the benefits of major projects flow to the local community, through employing local jobseekers
  • link agencies and contractors with TAFE SA and other training providers
  • attend meetings organised by the contracting agency with tenderers or contractors to explain workforce and skills planning and development to meet the 15% Policy.
Note: DFEEST does not advise on 15% Policy compliance; this is the responsibility of the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI), which administers the Policy.
