The Premier’s Science and Industry Council (PSIC) provides advice to the South Australian Government on a wide range of issues related to science and research and development, including industry needs and partnerships, funding opportunities and priority areas for research.

The South Australian Premier and Chief Scientist for South Australia co-chair the PSIC and other members include the Minister for Science and Information Economy, industry leaders, the Scientist of the Year and the Tall Poppy of the Year.

The PSIC provides strategic advice to the Premier, the Minister and Cabinet on a range of science, technology and innovation matters, including:

The Chief Scientist provides leadership in science and research and represents the South Australian Government on matters relating to science, technology research and innovation, as well as raising the research and innovation profile of South Australia.
